Recovery Meditation #18

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James 1: 2-3

Once you have chosen to take the road to recovery, do not expect life to be a bed of roses. Life will still be hard but it will be better. Better because it will be self-directed. Climbing Mt. Everest is hard but the view from the top is magnificent. Such hard work builds character. You must be relentless in your pursuit of sobriety. There will be slips, there will be obstacles but you must persevere. Look on each trial as a learning experience. Knowledge is power. If you learn from your mistakes you will find pure joy because you will learn how to be sober and how to stay sober.

Pray: God grant me perseverance. Give me a heart for the relentless pursuit of sobriety. Help me see this through so that I can see the joyous view from the top. Amen. !
